At 2nd Ave Family Dental, we care for kids, adults, families, nervous patients and people who haven’t been in a dental chair for longer than they’d like to admit. Our approach is straightforward: understand what is going on, explain your options clearly and help you make the next decision without a lecture. We’re based here in Durango, and we want this to be the kind of dental office you can keep coming back to, not just somewhere you visit when something hurts.
About
2nd Avenue Family Dental
Some patients walk through our door every six months without thinking twice about it. Others have spent three days working up the courage to make the call. We designed the experience at 2nd Ave for both. We provide general and family, restorative, cosmetic and sedation dentistry from our office on East 2nd Avenue in Durango but the treatment menu isn’t really what defines the practice.
What matters more is how we approach the person sitting in the chair.
About Our Doctors
Dr. Taylor Clark leads 2nd Ave Family Dental with an approach centered on clear explanations, thoughtful treatment planning and helping patients feel more in control of what happens in the chair. His clinical background includes dental training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, service with the Indian Health Service in Whiteriver, Arizona, and two years of advanced anesthesiology training at UCLA.
That anesthesia training is particularly relevant for a practice that sees people who have significant dental anxiety but additional training doesn’t mean everyone needs sedation. It means conversations about comfort can begin with a better understanding of the patient’s health, anxiety, treatment and available options.
About Our Staff
A dental office isn’t just the dentist. It’s the person who answers when you’re nervous and finally call. It’s the hygienist who notices you’re tense. It’s the assistant who explains what’s happening next and it’s the person helping you figure out scheduling, records and what you need before the appointment. Our team works together to make visits clear, organized and as comfortable as we reasonably can. If your teeth are in rough shape, you’ve missed appointments, you’re embarrassed or you’re nervous about what we’ll find, you’re still welcome here.

My partner had a broken tooth, and we were able to get an appointment for consultation the very next day. Once the consultation was done, she was able to get an extraction done a couple of hours later. During the procedure, the entire team was super considerate with her dental anxiety, and put in extra time and care to make sure she was comfortable, even getting her a blanket! My partner also was able to get in contact with the office outside of regular hours, and the dentist called her to check in on the weekend, with a follow-up the next business day. Meet Dr. Taylor M Clark
Dr Clark’s extensive expertise uniquely positions him to expertly manage your dental issues. Dr. Clark attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for dental school. After a brief tenure with the Indian Health Service in Whiteriver, AZ where he spent two years at UCLA in a dental anaesthesiology residency where he received extensive training in anaesthesia techniques for dental procedures. Dr. Clark and his family love living in Durango and enjoying the many activities available here.
